Tough Dog Toy Review
Here again with the Kong Pudge Braidz Dog Squeaker Toy we have another example of what’s becoming an old adage around here: Just because it says “Kong” doesn’t mean it’s strong. Not all Kong dog toys are made for power chewers like our Willie.
Honestly, I didn’t have much hope for this Braidz bear. Not with it’s poofy head looking like it does. And my suspicions were correct. This bear’s head is its Achilles heel. Well, that, plus it’s cloth with a squeaker and stuffing. Anything cloth with a squeaker and stuffing is like Thanksgiving Dinner for Willie.
If you’re looking for a really soft toy, number one, you’re in the wrong place. And number two, the cloth on this Pudge Braidz bear is really soft. That was another reason I knew it was going to be a goner in no time.
And yet . . . yet . . . I held out some small hope . . . nah, just kidding. The body on this toy is, as its name suggests, knotted up in braids. It’s a solid braid of stiff cloth that works out to be pretty hard. It’s got a small squeaker in its head, which was obvious by the way Willie demolished it immediately.
After Willie destroyed this toy’s head in the yard, he dragged its braided body around the house for a little while. But there really wasn’t much to do with it, since it didn’t squeak or anything. Really, it was over for this toy the minute the white stuff hit the ground.
Kong makes Pudge Braidz toys in the form of pigs, dogs, bears and roosters. We had the bear. Not that it matters. Hey, at least the product description doesn’t rave on and on about how tough, strong and durable it is. I do have to give it that. The product description says that it cleans dogs teeth. I cannot image how, though. Does it floss them as it’s ripping to shreds in dogs’ mouths?
Willie’s Dog Toy Review
This little softy bear! How adorable! It reminded me of the toys mom used to get way back when, before she realized the full extent of my powers. Well, as we all know from the existence of this website, I set her straight right away back then, loud and clear. I guess I just have to give her a reminder of my strength every once in awhile when she gives me something silly and soft like this. Pshaw!
Consumer Internet Reviews
Amazon: 3.2 out of 5 stars with 1,676 reviews.
Chewy: 3 out of 5 stars with 15 reviews.
Heavy chewers shred this in minutes or hours. Over 1/3 of Amazon reviewers give it 1 or 2 stars. People remark how soft this toy is and how easy it was for their dog to tear it apart. The squeaker is on the small side, which concerns some people with squeaker-swallowing dogs. Occasionally toys will remain interesting after part of them are destroyed, but not so with this toy. Once the head is gone (very quickly) dogs lose all interest.
47% of reviewers on Amazon gave this four or more stars and 42% of reviewers on Chewy recommend this toy. That’s actually a lot more than I would have guessed. This toy actually lasted a week with a pit bull pup. Some dogs just really love this thing. Sometimes they love it so much they just don’t tear it apart. And hey – nearly everyone agreed this toy is awfully darn cute!
If you’re looking for a soft, cute toy this is it! You just can’t actually give it to your dog.
